ABOUT
   MIXES

MESA is a DJ and producer from Oakland, California, shaping a new generation of house and techno selectors. He founded Sixth Sense, a Black American–focused club night, and Nuyo Ritmo, an event series celebrating Puerto Rican and Black American influence in dance music. He is also a core member of Brooklyn’s Level III Collective.

His approach grows from his grounding in Black studies and his interest in sound system culture. That foundation echoes in his debut EP Spiritual Negligence, where analog-leaning rawness and a study of Black spiritual technologies reveal how his productions carry the same questions and inquiries that shape his practice. It’s an extension of the lineage he honors and the Black American house and techno traditions he pushes forward.

His project Spiritual Negligence extends this inquiry into Afro-futurism as a form of Black spiritual transcendence, presented through complementary works: an EP and a zine.
